It bombed at the box office in the wake Trump's election but Warren Beatty's long-awaited Howard Hughes film is a prophetic masterpiece. A fitting swan song from one of America's greatest and most under appreciated film artists.

Directed by Warren Beatty. Starring Alden Ehrenreich, Lily Collins, Matthew Broderick, Annette Benning, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin, Candice Bergen, Steve Coogan and Beatty himself. Oh yeah, and featuring Donald Trump’s treasury secretary, Steve Mnuchin AND Jumpy The Dog.

How is the world wrong about this film?

From Andras: RULES DON’T APPLY might have been a financial failure but it is an unqualified artistic success. Perfectly cast. Beautifully shot. A strange and conflicting story of a strange a conflicting man, featuring a tender tour de force of a title song performed by Lily Collins. RULES DON'T APPLY has about as much to say to us as you’d expect from the creative force behind “Bullworth”, “Reds”, “Shampoo” and “Bonnie & Clyde”, which is A LOT.
